Washing Hints
In order to have your garments looking better longer, please pay particular attention please pay particular attention to the washing tips we advise. It is also important that you pass this information on to your student's parents.

The most important tips to remember are:

  • Never hang washing out in direct sunlight
  • Always fasten all zips, buttons and studs prior to washing so that they don't damage garments or get caught during the wash cycle
  • When washing, use warm or even cold water
  • To protect the colour of your garments always wash them inside out;
  • Separate darks, colours and whites.

How do we care for the Garments?
Always read the care label that is sewn onto the garment first. Washing hints are also outlined on the attached swing ticket, please ensure the purchaser of the garment is aware of them.

The sooner you treat a stain, the better. The longer it sits, the more time it has to work itself into the fibers. Immediately diluting stains in cold water is often the best remedy.

It is recommended that you wash all garments before they are worn. There are 2 reasons for this. All dyes will then be completely set, and the garment will also be more comfortable.

When your washing comes into contact with undiluted washing powder – spot bleaching can be the result. To avoid this, agitate the water to distribute the powder if you put your detergent in before the clothing. If you put your clothing in first, make sure it is all completely immersed in the water before adding the detergent. Of course, a machine with a powder dispenser is easiest. Chlorine bleach and pre-soaks are not recommended.

For Best Results:

  • Wash garments made of like fabric and colors together
  • Be sure to pre-treat any stains on items before washing (machine washing and drying without pre-treating may set stains permanently)
  • Use non-chlorine bleach
  • Wash in small loads
  • Zippers, snaps and buttons should be fastened before washing to prevent snags

Please avoid using a clothes drier wherever possible. If this is unavoidable, always use the cool setting. Using the drier can cause shrinkage and your garments won't last as long. Always hang your washing inside out in the shade and try to avoid the clothesline (unless it is shaded) on hot days of 30oC or more.

If you have a print on your garment, always press the garment before the first wash (except nylon garments). This will help extend the life of the logo. For nylon garments, a piece of fabric should be placed between the iron and the print. Hot iron settings are also responsible for pilling, shrinkage and colour loss. A warm setting is preferred.
