Printing & Embroidery

What better way to truly wear personalise your garment than by having your school, company or club logo printed on to it. At PSW we can screen print or embroidery on almost any garment.

Using a Logo?

A logo can consist of absolutely anything – the choice is yours. Writings, drawings, symbols relevant to your school or simply a logo designed by some of your school's members. If your school has a logo that is used on its' stationery, that is often what is reproduced onto the garments.

Embroidery

What size is the logo?

There are some general guidelines in sizing your logo. The reason the following dimensions have been chosen is that they look appropriate regardless of the size of the garment. The standard logo sizes are:

Hats up to 55mm high
Bag 120mm x 120mm
Small Garment Logo 75mm x 75mm
Large Garment Logo 150mm x 150mm

Screen Printing or Embroidery

There are positives for both choices. Generally embroidery can be more expensive but can provide a wider choice of colours, and the look will be totally different.

Print Advantages

•  Quick and easy;
•  Receive your garments sooner;
•  The price of a print is less expensive;
•  The initial set-up is less expensive;
•  Once set up, there's no minimum print quantities to order.

Embroidery Advantages

•  Looks more impressive and more colours and detail are available to you;
•  An embroidered logo takes a little longer to apply which means you will need to wait a little longer to receive your garments;
•  A minimum of 20 garments must be embroidered each time;
•  An embroidered logo is often twice as expensive as a printed logo.
•  A wider selection of garments can be embroidered than printed.

Screen Printing

What colours can be used?

We have ‘stock' inks that are as close as possible to our fabric colours to ensure a match with your uniform. If you have a particular colour that you need, we may be able to match that for you. Please be aware that there may be a slight variance from one batch to another that may be unavoidable.

What alterations can I make to the logo?

The logo can be modified in many ways. The most effective logos are clean, clear and simple. Cursive, Italics and detailed fonts are difficult to read and increase the risk of error.

In order to reduce additional costs, the changes should be made prior to forwarding your logo to us for reproduction.

How long does it all take?

The initial set-up of the logo will usually take approximately one week. This involves our artist reproducing your logo, forwarding it to you for approval, making any requested changes and then transferring the final logo onto a screen.

Applying the logo onto your garments is a very quick process. Usually your garments would only take around one day longer to receive than if they are weren't printed. Embroidery may take up to 3 days longer.

How much does it all cost?

Initial Set-Up
The largest cost incurred in applying your logo to your garment is the initial set-up. The actual cost depends on the quality of the logo you are able to supply us. An embroiderer works from a computer disk and a screen-printer uses a ‘positive' (your logo in black on clear plastic – the reverse of a negative) to apply your logo to a screen.

The entire process is very professional and, if our graphic artist already has your logo, you could arrange to have your logo printed on other clothing.

Applying the Logo

Each time your logo is applied onto a garment there is a cost involved. This cost becomes part of the garment price (e.g. T-shirt $10, Print $2 = garment price of $12). Your representative can advise you of the actual cost once all the details of your logo have been determined (e.g. screen print or embroidery, size, number of colours, etc.).

Your Logo in Different Sizes

Once your logo has been set-up, you may choose to have different sizes available. To reproduce your logo to another size also incurs a small cost. Simply advise your representative when placing your order that you would like a different size logo made for you. Each time your logo is amended, a copy and an approval form will be faxed to you. We will require your signature and details of amendments you wish to be made.

Please maintain contact with your school's office to ensure a speedy process. The longer it takes to obtain your approval, the longer it will be before we are able to print your required garments.

Which Garments Can My Logo Appear on?

Your school's logo can be applied to almost any garment including all tops, though variations to sizing may be required. Some schools choose to even have their shorts, netball skirts and track-suit pants printed or embroidered.

Hats and bags can also have a logo applied provided there is space and the surface allows (e.g. a seam up the middle of a hat may affect the quality of your print). An embroidered logo is slightly more limiting.

We usually use Opaque ink when screen-printing, as it is easier to handle. An iron will not affect it and the logo is guaranteed to last for the life of the garment.

What Happens if I Need To Change My Logo Once It Has Been Produced?

If the logo is to be an entirely new one, then the whole set-up process for a new logo applies. (Refer to the sections listed on previous pages). If only a portion is to be amended, then you will need to discuss this with your representative.

What are the Requirements for Garments That I May Already Have and Need My Logo On?

If you have unprinted garments that you require the logo to be placed on, we will print them for you provided:

•  They are PSW garments;
•  The garments have not been worn.

What Happens If I Want PSW To apply A Logo onto another party's garments?

We may be able to apply your logo onto other supplier's garments provided we assess the quality of the fabric first. Some fabrics may not sustain the heat of our oven and we need to determine this prior to agreeing to print for you.
